Word for the day “ Walking!” - Les Invalides, Napoleon's tomb and the Eiffel Tower

Starting with an adventurous metro ride to Napoleon’s tomb and Les Invalides to the walk to the Eiffel Tower for some(which is undergoing major access changes due to security issues) and the Branley Museum of indigenous art for others, our day ended with a brusque walk to the Bateaux Mouche (are we almost there?) only to skip the boat ride as thunder clouds rolled in. In trying to walk to the metro we were caught in a downpour that included hail. Soaked to the bone we squeezed into the metro along with what seemed to be most of Paris, only to arrive at our hotel destination with sunshine and clear skies! What a group of troopers that showed enormous flexibility and resilience. We’ll catch that boat ride another day! Someone recorded we walked 7 miles yesterday. I’m sure it was more today.  Tomorrow will be a breeze with sites in close proximity of each other. C’est formidable!

“Petit dejeuner “ before we began the day.  The deck is off the dining room with a lovely garden view.

First painting started of the Eiffel Tower

There is now a plexi glass barrier all around the Eiffel Tower. Freedom has been limited because of the threat of terrorists.  Very sad.

It was hot!

Eiffel's private office at the top of the tower where he received guests.  Here is a reenactment with Thomas Edison.

Failed attempt to take the bateau mouche - a storm was brewing
